Whimsical Heritage Inspired Bridal From Wilderness Bride

If you are a vintage soul at heart, you will adore this heritage and vintage inspired bridal collection by the super talented Stephanie Mitchell of British designer label Wilderness Bride. From her studios in Cheshire, Stephanie designs and creates stunning bespoke and collection pieces for the bride who is creative and free spirited. She was a pioneer of bridal separates with her gorgeous lace overlays back in 2014, so is a girl with a keen eye on style as well as listening to what brides want.

I was drawn to these images as I can feel Stephanie’s own design, heritage and cultural influences coming throughout the whole shoot, there is something Pre-Raphaelite about these, beautiful and wild. Working with artistic Leeds based due Martyn and Chloé of Fox and Owl Photography, the whole shoot has an ambience that is compelling and ethereal. Set in the most beautiful place, Didsbury Parsonage Trust, a secret garden, a capsule in time.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Stephanie studied Fashion Design and Garment Construction at Chester University. Working in the bridal industry for many years, she gained a wealth of experience from listening to and styling brides. Designing her own collection was a natural progression with friends asking her to design their wedding dresses. In 2014, Stephanie launched a small but successful collection of bridal separates under her own label, Wilderness Bride. Today the collection has grown and she continues to run Wilderness Bride from her flagship studio in Knutsford, Cheshire.

I’m definitely a no-fuss kind of person. My parents were free-spirited and interested in folklore and the natural world. All these influences can be seen in Wilderness Bride. If I’m not designing or dressmaking, I’m researching the 1800s, 1930s or 1950s through literature, art, fashion and photos. I feel very lucky and I love what I do.

VINTAGE HERITAGE INSPIRED DESIGN

Stephanie is passionate about creating handcrafted bridalwear, with designs that are influenced by all things natural, vintage and heritage. Taking inspiration from classical literature, folklore and the four elements of earth, air, fire and water.

We work with vintage-inspired fabrics to create simple shapes and flattering silhouettes. We focus on intricate and enchanting details, with hidden heritage in every choice of cut, lace, bead and button.

ABOUT THE BRAND

About five years ago, I was walking through the grounds of a beautiful stately home with a friend. We were discussing the name for my new label. At exactly the same time as deciding ‘Wilderness Bride’ was perfect, I tripped over a set of antlers! I took it as ‘a sign’, and they became my company emblem.
